Survey Regarding Insurance Cost Increases for Multifamily Providers

CARH’S BROADCAST E-MAIL – Member Update

CARH, together with the Institute of Real Estate Management, National Affordable Housing Management Association, National Apartment Association, National Leased Housing Association, and National Multifamily Housing Council, has put together a survey to gather important data on increases in insurance costs being experienced by multifamily providers.

Some owner and management companies, particularly in urban areas throughout the country, have shared they have been denied some types of insurance coverage for an array of reasons including, the status as affordable housing, to use of crime statistics in the underwriting process, to the presence of pull cords, etc. on the property, to discontinuation of types of coverage (such as assault and battery), and beyond. Obviously, these insurance costs are putting substantial pressure on the operating budgets of affordable housing properties throughout the country.

To share your experience with insurance cost increases, please click on the link below to complete the survey. Please note, you may receive this request for data from one of several associations supporting the survey, and we ask that the survey only be completed once, so that we have one response per company that is participating, to protect the integrity of the data.

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance with this important data collection effort. The deadline for completion is COB, April 30, 2021.
