As reported by the HOME Coalition, which CARH is a part of, on May 16, 2016, the Senate approved by voice vote Senator Feinstein (D-CA) and Senator Portman’s (R-OH) HOME amendment to the THUD bill to make it easier for states and communities to maintain access to their HOME funding that would otherwise expire due to the 24-month commitment deadline. Specifically, the amendment would eliminate the 24-month commitment deadline for HOME funding. In addition, it also ensures that HOME funds that have already been allocated are not subject to the commitment deadline.
