2022 Scholarship Recipients

Gabriela Rodriguez — James L. Poehlman Scholarship

Gabriela is a resident of Apple Tree Apartments in Ranson, West Virginia, a property managed by CARH member, TM Associates Management. She is a 2022 graduate of Jefferson High School where she earned a 4.18 GPA. While in school, Gabriela was in the Hispanic Latino Student Association and tutored other students. In her church, she was an active member of the youth group, participated  in liturgical readings, and was a temporary teacher assistant for the children. Gabriela will attend West Virginia University and pursue a degree in Immunology and Medical Microbiology. She also plans to study Education. Her goal is to become a Medical Technologist and to have the opportunity to also teach sciences.

Kaylan Petty — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Kaylan is a resident of Maple Crest Apartments in Asheville, North Carolina, a property managed by CARH member, Partnership Property Management. Kaylan is a single mother, holds multiple jobs, and is currently attending Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College where she is enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program. Upon completion, she plans to continue her education at Western Carolina University for her Bachelors Degree. Kaylan’s goal is to become a clinical social worker, specifically focused as a domestic violence counselor and behavioral analyst.

Khong Nguyen — Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship

Khong is a resident of Bayou Bend Apartments in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Apartment Services Management. He is a 2022 graduate of Alma Bryant High School where he earned a 3.9 GPA. While in school, Khong was co-captain of the Alma Bryant E-Sports, a member of the student government association, National Honor Society, and participated in Relay for Life, Walk for Hope, Dugout Dudes and Darlin’s, and the Recycling Team. Khong will attend the University of Alabama and pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering. His career goal is work with either NASA or Lockheed Martin.

Aimelis Gonzales Perez — CRHD Founders Scholarship

Aimelis is a resident of Deerfield Apartments in Daleville, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Hollyhand Management. She is a 2022 graduate of Daleville High School where she earned 3.95 GPA. In school, Aimelis was in the marching band, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, student government association, and Quill & Scroll. She will be attending Enterprise State Community College where she will pursue her Associates Degree in Business then transfer to Troy University to pursue her degree in Communications.

Olivia Barhorst — Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

Olivia is a resident of Quaker Run Apartments in Wapakoneta, Ohio, a property managed by CARH member, The Provident Companies. Olivia is a 2022 graduate of Wapakoneta High School where she earned at 3.81 GPA. In school, Olivia was in the marching band, color guard,  and Gatekeepers. Olivia will attend the University of Northwestern Ohio and will pursue a degree in Accounting. Her goal is to become an accountant or CPA.

Hannah Sweeney — CARH Scholarship

Hannah is a resident of Briarwood Apartments in Staunton, Virginia, a property managed by CARH member, Knopp Enterprises, Inc. Hannah currently attends Blue Ridge Community College full-time and is in the transfer program for Psychology. Once completed, she will transfer to a four year university to pursue her degree in Psychology. Hannah’s goal is to open a private psychiatric practice for children and adolescents, focusing on creating a positive impact in the communities of People of Color.

Steven is a resident of Pelican Landing Apartments in Mobile, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Gateway Management. He attends the University of Alabama and plans to pursue a degree in History with a minor in Theology.

Kimberly Hummel — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Kimberly is a resident of Orchard Mews Apartments in Cumberland, Maryland, a property managed by CARH member, TM Associates Management. She is currently attending Frostburg State University and is pursuing her degree in Early Childhood Education.

Shawn Gulamerian — Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship

Shawn is a resident of Bush Garden Apartments in Pine Bush, New York, a property managed by CARH member, TM Associates Management. He currently attends Syracuse University’s School of Engineering.

Shayla Smith — CRHD Founders Scholarship

Shayla is a resident of Lincoln Manor Apartments in Walnutport, Pennsylvania, a property managed by CARH member, Gross & Quade Management. She attends Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where she is pursing her degree in Psychology.

Caitlyn Zeferino — Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

Caitlyn is a resident of Jackson Parkview Apartments in Hendersonville, North Carolina, a property managed by CARH member, Partnership Property Management. She attends Western Carolina University and is pursuing a degree in Dance.

Marissa Martinez — CARH Scholarship

Marissa is a resident of Bush Garden Apartments in Pine Bush, New York, a property managed by CARH member, TM Associates Management. She attends The Cure Center for Ultrasound Research and Education.

Federica received her scholarship while a resident of Fir Village Apartments in Oak Harbor, Washington, a property managed by CARH member Ad-West Realty Services, Inc. She attends the University of Washington and is majoring in Linguistics.

Wesley Partch — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Wesley received his scholarship while a resident of Lake City Apartments in Lake City, Pennsylvania, a property managed by CARH member TM Associates Management. He attends Edinboro University and is majoring in Computer Sciences with a focus on Game and Virtual World Design. 

Malea Benjamin — Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship

Malea received her scholarship while a resident of South Hills Apartments in Pell City, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member Olympia Management. She attends the University of Alabama and is majoring in Political Science. 

Layla Zeferino — CRHD Founders Scholarship

Layla received her scholarship while a resident of Jackson Parkview Apartments in Hendersonville, North Carolina, a property managed by Partnership Property Management. She attends the University of North Carolina – Asheville and is majoring in Theatre, with a minor in Music.

Zadie Taylor — Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

Zadie received her scholarship while a resident of Rock Butte Apartments in Green River, Wyoming, a property managed by CARH member Syringa Property Management. She attends Western Community College where she is majoring in Nursing.

Tiarah Gray — CARH Scholarship

Tiarah received the inaugural CARH Scholarship while a resident of Orchard Court Apartments in Berryville, Virginia, a property managed by CARH member TM Associates Management. She attends Shepherd University where she is majoring in Nursing.

Sara received her scholarship while a resident of Colonial Pines Apartments in Tavares, Florida, a property managed by CARH member, Flynn Management Corporation. She attended Lake Sumter State College and studied Criminal Justice Technology.

Paris Morgan — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Paris received her scholarship while a resident of Cornerstone Apartments in Alexander City, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Gateway Management. She attends the University of Alabama -Birmingham. She is majoring in Biomedical Sciences.

LaTangela Abner — Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship

LaTangela received her scholarship while a resident of Brookeville Apartments in Gadsden, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Vantage Management. She graduated from Jacksonville State University in 2021 with a B.S. in Electronic Engineering, Occupational Safety.

Dylan Samora — CRHD Founders Scholarship

Dylan received his scholarship while a resident of The Palms Phase I Apartments in Aransas Pass, Texas, a property managed by CARH member, Hamilton Valley Management. He attended the University of Texas at San Antonio and majored in Psychology and Pre-medicine.

Joyce Nzeza — Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

Joyce received her scholarship while a resident of Shreveport Ridge Apartments in Ashburn, Virginia, a property managed by CARH member, TM Associates Management, Inc. She attends the University of Pittsburgh and is majoring in Pediatric Neurology.

Maddison received her scholarship while a resident of North Pine Village Apartments in Solomon, Kansas, a property managed by CARH member, MACO Management Company. She attends Emporia State University and is pursuing a degree in Nursing.

Sarah Harding — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Sarah received her scholarship while a resident of Gaslight Square Apartments in Gaylord, Michigan, a property managed by CARH member, KMG Prestige. She graduated Northwood University in 2020 with a B.S. in Business Management and Administration.

Courtney Murphree — Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship

Courtney received her scholarship while a resident of Stonecrest Apartments in Russellville, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Irby Management.  She attends the University of North Alabama – Florence and is majoring in Biology.

Alexis Dixon — CRHD Founders Scholarship

Alexis received her scholarship while a resident of Golden Acres Development in Pompano Beach, Florida, a property managed by CARH member, Nelson & Associates, Inc. She graduated Florida Memorial University in 2021 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice.

She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2018 with a B.S. in Secondary Education—Social Studies, with an emphasis on History.

Celeste Nzeza — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Celeste Nzeza received his scholarship while a resident of Shreveport Ridge Apartments in Ashburn, Virginia, a property managed by CARH member, TM Associates Management. Celeste graduated from Virginia Tech in 2021 with a B.S. in Business and Information Technology.

Maggie Lavorgna received her scholarship while a resident of Beverlye Crossings in Dothan, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Hall Housing Investments. She graduated from Troy University in 2020 with a B.S. in Social Work.

Sharonica Gavin receive her scholarship while a resident of Cedar Well Apartments in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, a property managed by CARH member, Partnership Property Management. She graduated from the University of South Carolina – Beaufort in 2018 with a B.S. in Public Health.

Jillianna Boyd — Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship

Jillianna Boyd received her scholarship while a resident of Angela Meadows in Albertville, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member Olympia Management. Jillianna graduated from the University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa in 2020 with a B.S. in Communications and Information Services.

Katrin Metz — CRHD Founders Scholarship

Katrin Metz received her scholarship while a resident of Glen Rock Apartments in Asheville, North Carolina, a property managed by Partnership Property Management. She attended Western Carolina University and studied Inclusive Education and Teaching English as a Second Language.

Matthew McLaughlin — Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

Matthew McLaughlin received his scholarship while a resident of Belmont Lodge Apartments in White House, Tennessee, a property managed by CARH member Hallmark Management. He graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 2020 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.

Victoria Graham — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Dy’Lean English — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Dy’Lean English received her scholarship while a resident of Summer Place Apartments in Carrollton, Alabama a property managed by CARH member, Hollyhand Companies. Dy’Lean graduated from the Mississippi University for Women in 2017 with her B.S. in Biological Sciences.

Sonia Frederick received her scholarship while a resident of Stanton Meadows Apartments in Senaca Falls, New York, a property managed by CARH member, Baldwin Real Estate Corporation. Sonia graduated from Albany State University in 2016 with her B.S. in Accounting & Financial Analysis.

Christen Canada received her scholarship while a resident of Brookhaven Apartments in Huntsville, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member Greer Management. Christen graduated from Alabama A&U University with a  B.S. in Biology in 2013. She receivd her Masters at A&M University and her doctorate education at William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine.

Jessica Kirkpatrick — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Jessica Kirkpatrick received her scholarship while a resident of Belmont Lodge Apartments in White House, Tennessee, a property managed by CARH member Hallmark Management.  Jessica graduated Middle Tennessee State University in 2015 with her B.S. in Early Childhood Education.

Christopher Bright received his scholarship while a resident of Ashbrook Apartments in Albertville, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Sunbelt Management. In 2016, Chris graduated from Auburn University with his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a minor Business.

Paula Lockhart — James L. Poehlman Scholarship

Paula Lockhart received her scholarship while a resident of Cumberland Village in Saint Mary’s, Georgia, a property managed by CARH member, Hallmark Management. Paula graduated from Wesleyan College in 2014 with a B.A. in Theatre and Mass Communication.  She continued her education at the University of Louisville for a Masters in Fine Arts in Theatre Arts with emphasis on Performance.

Grace Belnap — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Grace Belnap received the Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship while a resident of West Tisbury Apartments in Rexburg, Idaho, a property managed by CARH member, Syringa Properties. Grace received her B.S. in Communications from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2011.

Charles Lee — Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship

Charles Lee received the inaugural Jack Godin, Jr. Scholarship while a resident of Carriage House Manor in Andalusia, Alabama, a property managed by CARH member, Sunbelt Management. Charles graduated from Wallace Community College in 2016 with his B.S. in Nursing.

LaSquizzie Kern received her scholarship while a resident of Hannah Heights in Ethel, Mississippi, a property managed by CARH member, Intervest Corporation. She graduated in 2013 from the Mississippi University for Women with a B.S. in Art Education and Art Design.

Angela Hobson — Gordon L. Blackwell Scholarship

Angela Hobson received her scholarship while a resident of Burbaker Square Apartments in New Carlisle, Ohio, a property managed by CARH member, The Provident Companies. Angela graduated from Wright State University in 2013 with a B.S. in Social Work.
