October 21st Senate Subcommittee Hearing on Rural Development in 21st Century America
CARH’S BROADCAST E-MAIL – Legislative Update
October 19, 2015
UPDATE (October 21, 2015): The hearing webcast can be found by clicking here.
On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., EST, the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies will hold a hearing to review “Rural Development in 21st Century America.” The hearing will be held in Room 192 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, DC. At this time, it is unknown if the hearing will be recorded on video or audio only. However, the subcommittee website will have more information on the morning of the hearing.
Tony Chrisman, a CARH member and Vice President and Owner of Chrisman Development in Enterprise, Oregon, has been asked to testify by Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR), the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee, on the ongoing Rental Assistance (RA) issues impacting rural housing. While the hearing will cover a myriad of issues impacting Rural Development, Mr. Chrisman’s testimony is important as Congress, together with CARH and the industry, try to develop solutions to the RA shortfall in FY 2016 and beyond.
