Yesterday, Rural Development announced that Nancie-Ann Bodell has been selected as Deputy Administrator for Rural Development’s (RD) Office of Multi-Family Housing. In this role, she will oversee RD’s Multifamily affordable housing production and preservation programs as well as the existing RD portfolio of affordable rural rental housing and farm labor housing throughout the country.

Nancie-Ann began her affordable housing career in 1988 with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Throughout her career at HUD, she worked continuously within the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs, reflecting a passionate commitment to affordable housing opportunities for very low-income families and other vulnerable populations such as the elderly and disabled. In 2008, she moved to HUD headquarters in Washington DC to serve as a Senior Policy Advisor to the Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary for Multifamily Housing. She later became the Director of the Office of Asset Management and Portfolio Oversight, where she managed a portfolio of $72 billion in multifamily assets and 1.2 million affordable housing units. She is recognized as the founding director of HUD’s Multifamily Program Administration Office, established to develop multifamily housing policy across HUD’s affordable multifamily platform. She joined RD in August 2018, most recently serving as Assistant Deputy Administrator of Multi-Family Housing.

Nancie-Ann received a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from Vassar College and attended graduate school at the University of Rhode Island School of Community Planning. She believes in fostering collaboration among staff and stakeholders, building a culture of teamwork, and using continuous process improvement to optimize organizational effectiveness.
