Montgomery Confirmed as FHA Commissioner; Seats Appointed as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Office of Multifamily Housing Programs at HUD

On May 23rd, the full Senate, by a vote of 74-23, confirmed Brian Montgomery as the Assistant Secretary of Housing and Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). He previously held the same position under President George W. Bush. Mr. Montgomery has also held several other top positions throughout the government and housing industry, including Co-founder and Partner at the Collingwood Group; Deputy Assistant to the President from 2001 to 2003 including service as Secretary to the Cabinet from 2003 to 2005; and Board Member on the Federal Housing Finance Board, the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 Oversight Board, and NeighborWorks America Board.

HUD also announced on May 23rd that C. Lamar Seats has been appointed as the new Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for the Office of Multifamily Housing Programs. Prior to his appointment, he was a Managing Director at M&T Realty Capital Corporation where he was responsible for multifamily agency loan production with FHA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. Prior to that, Mr. Seats was CEO of Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC, Senior VP of Enterprise Community Investment, Inc., and Senior VP of Reilly Mortgage Group, respectively.

Bob Iber, who had been Acting DAS for the past year and a half, will stay on at HUD as an advisor to the Department.
