CARH Scholarship Foundation Accepting Applications for 2022 Scholarships!
Dear CARH Members:
The Scholarship Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2022 scholarships – the James L. Poehlman, Gordon L. Blackwell, Jack Godin, Jr., CRHD Founders, Scholarship Foundation, and CARH Scholarships! The Scholarship Foundation is providing these six scholarships to deserving residents of CARH-member affordable rural housing properties. Each scholarship will be $1,500 per semester for educational expenses, with a maximum four years of funding.
Qualified applicants must be a resident of a CARH-member property; a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident; hold or be a candidate for a high school diploma or equivalent; demonstrate scholastic or work achievement; demonstrate financial need; and be accepted at or currently enrolled, as a full-time under-graduate student at an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university; or accepted at or attending a technical, trade, or vocational school or program. (Please note, a property is considered to be a “CARH-member property” if it is under the management/ownership of a national CARH member and the annual Property Training & Education Fee has been paid for that property.)
There are three types of applications for scholarships:
- Application for Traditional Students – This application is for those students/individuals, that are currently a candidate for high school graduation or within the past five years received a high school diploma (or equivalent); and
- Application for Non-Traditional Students – This application is for students/individuals, with a high school diploma or equivalent, who have been out of school for five years or more.
- Application for Technical/Trade/Vocational Students – This application is for any students or individuals who are or will be attending a technical, trade, or vocational school or program.
The Foundation is encouraging submission of applications from residents who will be attending Technical/Trade/Vocational schools. If there are qualified submissions, at least one of the scholarships will be awarded in this category.
Applications can also be downloaded from the “Scholarship Foundation” menu option of the CARH website, www.carh.org. Applications must be received by the Scholarship Foundation no later than April 30, 2022.
We hope to have a record number of applicants from across the country! Please take the time to inform your site managers and residents of CARH-member properties about these scholarships.
It is my hope that you get the word out to CARH member properties as soon as possible and ask your on-site property management personnel to encourage qualified residents to apply for these scholarships! Click here for a flyer that can be posted in property common areas or distributed to residents.
Site managers play integral roles in the lives of residents who live in rural housing complexes. Due to the efforts of these managers, residents have been encouraged to submit scholarship applications in the past. As recognition of this work, the Foundation will present to the manager of each complex where there is a successful scholarship recipient, $250 plus recognition in several CARH publications and on the CARH website!
This is the 17th year that the Scholarship Foundation has awarded scholarships. Recipients of the scholarships will be presented at a special Awards Ceremony during CARH’s Annual Meeting and Legislative Conference which will be held June 27-29, 2022.
Thank you for your time and assistance in promoting the CARH Scholarship Foundation’s 2022 Scholarship application process!
