CARH’S BROADCAST E-MAIL – Regulatory Update

July 23, 2019

Joel Baxley, Acting Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development (RD) at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, has announced that he will be leaving his position effective August 2, 2019. Prior to assuming the job as Acting Assistant to the Secretary, Joel was the Administrator for the Rural Housing Service. He has been a long-time affordable housing advocate and has been a valuable and knowledgeable speaker on a variety of panels and sessions at CARH national meetings and at CARH’s Board of Directors’ meetings.

CARH would like to thank Joel for all of his work and many accomplishments in supporting affordable housing and we wish him well in all of his future endeavors.

While the Administration works to identify someone to take the helm, Misty Giles, RD Chief of Staff, will continue to manage the day-to-day operations of RD in the interim under the direction of the Office of the Secretary. CARH looks forward to working with Misty and the person eventually selected to become the Assistant to the Secretary, who will continue to advocate for the housing programs administered by RD.
